Jokkmokk Guide

Jokkmokk – A Gem in Northern Sweden

Jokkmokk is a town in the northern Swedish province of Norbotten County, about an hour's drive from us. You might have heard of the famous Jokkmokk Market, which attracts thousands of visitors once a year. The small town is also the center of Sámi culture.

For us, Jokkmokk is always worth a visit.

Here’s what our perfect day in Jokkmokk looks like:

  • Parking: You can park for free along the street. We prefer parking near the bakery.

  • Coffee and cinnamon buns: Grab some at City Konditoriet i Jokkmokk AB, and don’t forget to take some treats to go!

  • Stroll along the avenue: Walk towards the Jokkmokk Church, a charming and peaceful spot.

  • Ájtte Museum: Learn all about Sámi history and Lapland’s culture at this fascinating museum.

  • Ájtte Fjällträdgård: A stunning alpine garden showcasing plants from the mountain regions.

  • Talvatissjön (Lake Jokkmokk): A great spot to relax and take a break. There’s also a playground for the kids.

  • Gamla Apoteket: The old pharmacy, where you can admire traditional crafts and artisanal goods.

  • Fjällriket: In our opinion, the best souvenir shop in Jokkmokk.

  • Arctic Circle Sign: While the first Arctic Circle sign is covered with stickers, we know where to find a better one for that perfect photo. Just ask us, and we’ll share the location.

  • Jokkmokks Tenn: If you're looking to surprise someone special with unique jewelry, this is the place.

If you have any questions, the Jokkmokk Information Center is incredibly helpful and always ready to assist.

Once a year, Jokkmokk hosts the Jokkmokk Market (Jåhkåmåhke Márnána), also known as the Sámi Market, where ancient traditions are celebrated. You’ll find countless craft stalls, food stands, traditional songs, and a lively gathering of people. The market takes place every year on the first weekend of February.

We wish you a wonderful time in Jokkmokk. Feel free to share your experience with us!
